And yet the French have quite a facility for mathematics, which is emphasized in the French educational system. If you work in finance, the quants are often French or people who have come up through that system.

FWIW, “la dolce vida” is Italian not French.

To my knowledge, Castilian Spanish is also highly unusual in having the set phrase «sooner or later» the other way around: «tarde o temprano».

That phrase, or some variation thereof, exists in most languages, but usually it's «soon[er]» that comes first.
