Sheinbaum ante victoria de Donald Trump: "No es motivo de preocupación" | MARCA México

The United States and Mexico have been trade partners for decades. Mexico produces many of the goods that Americans use daily like cars, electronics, and food..plus the U.S. is Mexico’s biggest customer. Thanks (Or no thanks) to trade deals like NAFTA (now USMCA), businesses in both countries have benefited.

But now, things might change.

Trump is back and threatening ( I say threatening at the moment considering the last 2 tariffs were in place for all of a day each) tariffs on Mexican goods. His claimed intent is to help American workers and stop too many imports from Mexico.

For Mexico’s new president, Claudia Sheinbaum, this is the first international challenge of many. If Trump succeeds, Mexico's economy could take a hit, businesses would lose money, and people on both sides of the border could feel the impact.

  • Past U.S.-Mexico trade fights.

  • Why Trump wants new tariffs.

  • How Sheinbaum is reacting so far.

  • The possible effects on Mexico’s economy.

  • What it might mean for businesses, investors, and expats.
