The Two-Step Residency Process
Step 1: The Consular Visa (The Bridge) Residency begins at a Mexican Consulate outside of Mexico. We audit your financials to ensure they meet the current year’s standards, book your appointment, and prepare you for the interview.
Phase 1: The Visa Application Requirements
To begin your process, you must attend an interview at a Mexican Consulate ( We secure your interview & ensure the following documents are 100% compliant):
Passport: Original + photocopy (must be valid for at least 6 months with one blank page).
Identification: Driver’s license or State ID (original + photocopy).
Photograph: One passport-sized photo (color, white background, no glasses).
The Consulate Letter: A formal typed letter addressed to the Consulate. It must specify your address in Mexico, intended duration, and a specific legal declaration acknowledging that you will not engage in remunerated (paid) work within Mexico.
Appointment Confirmation: A printed copy of your confirmed slot.
Proof of Economic Solvency: 6–12 months of original bank statements (depending on the consulate’s specific rules).
Consular Fee: $54.00 USD (Paid directly to the consulate in cash or as specified by that location).
Note for Families: All minors must present an original birth certificate and be accompanied by both parents with valid IDs. All documentation must be submitted in original and one photocopy for each individual applicant.
Result: A visa sticker(s) in your passport.
Step 2: The Resident Card (The Canje) Within 30 days of entering Mexico, you must swap your sticker for a biometric ID card. Our team meets you at the immigration office to facilitate this “Canje” (exchange) process.
Result: Your official Mexican Resident Card.
